Our Focus
Corporate Governance
Batavia Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation’s corporate governance is a set of regulations, policies, and procedures that control the functioning of the Organization. It defines the Board of Directors’ role, its composition, the role of the Chairperson, the role of General Manager, risk management strategies, control mechanisms, and action plans.
Income Generation
Batavia's main source of revenue is from operating a successful Savanah Burning project which is conducted on Batavia's aboriginal freehold land as well as the national park. The Savanna Burning project now funds 90% of Batavia. We are aiming to increase the burning on the freehold area with a target of 30-35% over the next 5 years.
Employment
Batavia employs a workforce of Full time and casual Ranger’s that provide best practice joint management of the NP (CYPAL) with QPWS so our lands and culture stay healthy for our children and for the benefit of all people.
Managing Threats
Since our lands have been returned to the Northern Kaanju, Atambaya and Yinwum peoples, we continue on-ground works including management of feral animals by trapping, fencing, pest and weeds by chemical control and Fire management activities.
